Mindful Living Week 1 ( Thursday)

The First Step is Always the Hardest- Day 4

Happy Thursday!!

The week is almost over, that means we are almost done working on our living spaces. Yesterday I hope you all took the time to relax, and do some self care. It is so important to allow ourselves to have that time.

However, today we are nearing the final stretch of this series which means the next two days will be work filled. But do not worry!! We are so close to beginning our habit building.

Today’s Tasks

Today we are focusing on areas in our living spaces that we have not yet done. With the hope that you have started the organization of your other spaces, today we will be focusing on the kitchen. These tasks can be big, but I believe you can get it done.

  • Clear off the counters of any clutter that may have built up over time.

    • Organize it and dispose of any trash properly.

  • Go through your whole living space and gather any dishes that may be laying around, and put them with all of the other dirty dishes and begin washing, drying and putting them away.

    • This process may look different to everyone, depending on number of dirty dishes or if you have access to a dishwasher or not.

    • If hand washing, clean the area you will set dishes to dry on first, and continue with the following steps.

  • Begin deep cleaning counters, sink, and any other space that may need cleaning.

  • Gather any dirty dish towels and throw them in the laundry to be washed.

  • Sweep, mop, or vacuum the area.

  • Listen to your hunger and thirst cues, as well as if you feel a wave of exhaustion come over you, listen!

  • Use some of the mindfulness techniques you have been taught.

  • Try to get a good night's sleep.

This list looks long and overwhelming. But each step correlates with next. If done in order, the process of cleaning your kitchen (or cooking space) will be much easier.

Using Mindfulness

I would like you to end your night with a meditation. Focus on all of your accomplishments that you have achieved this week. Think about what you want to accomplish tomorrow.

Be aware of any anxieties you may be feeling and really work throught them until you feel comfortable enough with them to put them aside to allow rest. If possible, start talking with a loved one about any anxieties or stress you may be feeling in that moment, or that has built up over time.

Happy Cleaning!

You can do this! We are almost there. Post your progress in the comments or share with those you love.
